Purpose

The purpose of this report is to provide an analysis of available basic medical insurance plans for employees at Walsh’s Automotive Limited and to make a recommendation as to which plan would be most suitable for the company to offer its employees.

Background

Employer-sponsored medical insurance benefits for employees in Canada have become the norm in the workplace today. In 2000, Statistics Canada reported that 62% of employees were offered at least one of the three major employer sponsored categories of medical insurance; extended medical, dental and life/disability. Half of employees had been offered all three (Marshall, 2003)
